"The Birder Studio (Performer’s Workshop) played a major role in my development as a child. It provided me with not only an education of the theatre world – both on and off stage, but also a beautiful outlet for self-expression, which I so deeply believe all children need. Birder Studio has my unending gratitude for the kindness they have shown me over the years – and will always have a special place in my heart. "

“The Birder Studio was a wildly creative, infinitely imaginative space to explore my artistic intuitions as a young performer. The constant performing opportunities Alicia gave me provided invaluable insight and experience working in the field, and taught me the classic essentials I still use to this day while pursuing a career in the performance industry.”

I started Birder, back when it was still The Performer's Workshop, when I was only three years old. I spent most of my childhood in the studio making lifelong friends (whom I still am in touch with), gaining confidence in myself, attaining knowledge that not every child receives, and being allowed to be the truest form of myself. Birder was a safe space for me. Not only did it give me the foundation that I still use today in my Theatre career today, but it instilled in me many qualities that I benefit from in my every day life. I was never afraid to give a presentation in class, I was always an understanding and accepting friend, and I was always able to understand everyone's perspective. Birder got me through some of my hardest years and I'm infinitely grateful for the opportunities, knowledge, skills, and friends that I attained and made along the way. Thank you Birder!

I spent 10 formative years learning and performing with the Birder Studio (The Performer’s Workshop at the time). Memories from my time are endless - leading a white-robed line of children in “O Come All Ye Faithful” at Holiday Pops; performing Broadway selections at the public library; learning solos, ensemble pieces, and tons of choreography in weekly classes; being both on stage and backstage for many January musicals.

Now as an elementary music teacher, I apply the musicianship, leadership, and educational philosophies I learned from Alicia and my other teachers in my own classrooms. Music and performance for children are first and foremost learning experiences, and everyone should be given the opportunity to try. The Birder Studio solidified these beliefs in my mind and have shaped the person I am today.
